I became a Royal College Clinical Educator on 23/9/2016. Any fees are for the Royal College only.

My thesis:

My thesis dealt with different aspects of sociocultural and socioeconomic factors together with sexual orientation that interacted with sexual attitudes and practices of my patients at the Sexual Health Clinic, El Haud El Marsoud Hospital (a hospital with walk-in clinics, for skin and venereal diseases in Cairo, established by the British in 1902).

Two first reported findings:

One in Venereology:

Gohar A. Immune restoration Klebsiella lymphadenitis. International J STD AIDS 2011; 22:536-7.
Immune restoration syndrome unmasking Klebsiella lymphadenitis was reported in an HIV infected patient for the first time.

Another in Dermatology:

Gohar A. Neuropathic hand pruritus. Indian J Dermatol Venereol Leprol 2009; 75:531-2.
Hand pruritus linked to cervical spine disease was reported for the first time.


I became a reviewer for the British Medical Journal (BMJ) on 28/9/2017. Have been a reviewer for Andrologia.

Peripatetic Training (UK):

In 1995, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office awarded me a British Chevening scholarship to practise Genitourinary Medicine 
after General Medical Council [GMC] Registration with a license to practise in the UK. 

Besides, I have attended many 
London, Manchester, Nottingham, and Glasgow medical courses, meetings, training/clinical sessions, conferences and workshops covering Genitourinary Medicine, Dermatology, Surgical Dermatology, Dermatopathology, Uro-Andrology, legal and ethical of medical practice and medical education and I have passed the relevant British national exams in London/Glasgow and completed training appropriate to the Regulations before being considered for elevation from the Member status to the Fellow status at the Royal College. Being a Royal College clinical educator, I am fully committed to trainer development at the Royal College of Physicians, Glasgow, UK. 

Medical Charity Work in Egypt:

Private Medical Practice in Egypt:

    I remained in private medical practice from 1997 to 17/10/2016 (when I retired from paid work)This period was interrupted by my stay in the UK.

    Specialty Training in Egypt:

    • *7/5/1995 - 5/11/1996: Dermato-Venereologist/Andrologist, Cairo Hospital for Skin and Venereal Diseases (El-Haud El-Marsoud Hospital), Cairo, Egypt. I resigned my post at El-Haud El-Marsoud Hospital in November 1996 (6-year Specialty Training in a hospital specialty). This period was interrupted by my stay in the UK.
    • *3/2/1991 - 6/5/1995: Resident in Dermatology, Venereology and Andrology (DV/A), Cairo Hospital for Skin and Venereal Diseases (El-Haud El-Marsoud Hospital), Cairo, Egypt. During this period, 4 months training were completed at a leprosy unit.
    • *12/6/1990 - 17/1/1991: Resident in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Boulaq El Dakrour General Hospital, Greater Cairo, Egypt. Programme also included general emergency medicine and Cairo Alexandria Desert Road traffic accidents management sessions.
    • *11/4/1989 - 1/6/1990: General Practitioner, Military Service (Foundation House Officer Year 2 training). I was directly responsible for providing medical care of hundreds of soldiers and officers in Military Police. Patients in need of hospitalisation were admitted to Kobry El Quba Military Hospital, Cairo, Egypt.
    • *1/3/1988 - 28/2/1989: House Officer, Cairo University Hospitals (Foundation House Officer Year 1 training). Four months training were completed in Internal Medicine (and Paediatrics) - Four months training were completed in General Surgery (and Emergency Surgery/Orthopaedics) – Two months training were completed in Obstetrics and Gynaecology - Two months training were completed in Dermato-Venereology/Andrology.

    Speaker at the First National Conference on Medical Education Development and Improvement in Standard of Living for Doctors in May 2011, Cairo, Egypt.
